A lovely and spontaneous afternoon of vintage shopping at SamSam, Tilburg with our friend and fav producer Cursed P and my friend Mmarlie.
This tiny and most definite messy store is a treasure.. It took me a minute to find the strength and courage to browse and search through al the stuff, but after a deep breath I stepped over the doorstep and conquered this Valhalla. That’s where a fun vintage shopping afternoon started. Cursed P and Marlie browsing the LP’s and I was making sure not to miss any item hanging in the racks.
I eventually found a wax coat I’ve been searching for quite a while now! Got myself an old military jacket as well.. although I know it’s a bit late to get one, I still like them very much, always have actually.
Ow and the record Marlie is holding in one pic “Music from Saharan Cellphones” is really cool. The music is made by different people living in the Sahara. They send the songs to others by mobile phones and that way get spread around the desert. There are 2 volumes and let me tell you… it’s quit catchy African/Arabic music! A while back, me and my friend Marlie did a photoshoot with Dj and Producer Cursed P. There were some press photo’s needed and so he asked us to do a photoshoot.
Concepting, shopping, styling, shooting and editing.. Marlie and I did all this together. We added a voodoo theme since.. well you get the artist’s name right? Nothing more to explain I guess. We dug into our basements and thrift stores to find awesome accessories and voodoo like stuff. After a great day of shooting in both studio and forest this is the result of one photo-range, and and few more to follow.

A dish that I just Had to share with you!..

You probably wouldn’t believe this.. but before I never ever cooked a couscous meal. I got inspired by my friend Mirte who made me and my friends this amazing meal a few weeks back. She used plums in her dish, and I love fruit in food that’s all spicy and salty..
So I decided to prepare a couscous meal myself. I just bought some ingredients I thought would make a nice and robust ensemble.

What?  Chicken legs – (red)Onion – Zucchini – Plums – Apricots
Herbs: Cinnamon – Parsley – Morrocon Herbs (turmeric,coriander,paprika,caraway,salt,sugar) – salt -garlic

I don’t really work with recipes or something, just add the herbs like you think is fine. I threw some cinnamon and moroccan herbs on the chicken, baked it in a pan with the onion and some olive oil and after e few minutes added the zucchini.

Ater 5/7 minutes when the chicken has a nice crispy layer, add water so the chicken is at least half way under and gets steamed. Put a lid on the pan and leave to cook for about 10 min.
I added a hand full of (dried) plums, apricots and parsley and left it cooking for another 10 minutes.
Prepare the couscous like your package says.. and in 30 minutes your done!

I had some sheep-cheese in my fridge so I added some of that as well, tastes quite nice! You can totally use feta/goats-cheese as well, or add some other ingredients like mango, peas, beans maybe or change the zucchini to broccoli.

“Time to bake something exotic again”…. That’s what  I thought walking through our massive new Asian grocery store here in Breda. And so I baked this Pandan cake last week with my friend Mirte. I had to improvise since I didn’t have the right cake tin. But using a glass like this so the inside stays all airy and light in the middle works perfect as well!
If your not familiar with pandan or just not exotic.. it might look weird since it’s bright green because of the Pandan. Most bread  f.e. in Indonesia is flavoured and coloured like this but tastes totally fine! A bit like rice, you might know the flavour from jasmine rice, it goes quite well with chocolate as well. Nomnomnom…

A delicious creation by Michelle and me last week. We decided to bake a healthy quiche with spinache, goat cheese, red onion, walnuts, honey, eggs and herbs.. and why not use the heart shaped tin if it’s available right? Easy to fix and also really tastfull with brocolli, paprika, cherry tomatoes and soya cream. 45 minutes in the oven and ready to eat!

Most people stay inside with temperatures like this. Not us.. we decided to have some fun in the snow on our afternoons off. Hardly anyone outside so all the beauty and untouched snow for us!
And with snow of course comes a cup of hot chocolate to warm up at Inspire Coffee Company.
