DIY

Yay! Yesterday I moved to my new apartment together with my friend Mmarlie. Soon I’ll share some photo’s with you how it all looks like. But first we need to make it a pretty house (there’s so much rubbish, random stuff and boxes everywhere!) How? By pimping some of our furniture. And so I went searching for some inspirational DIY’s.

Spray-paint always works. You can add more colour in your interior by just adding some small coloured accessories or just spray-paint items, like flower pots, table-legs, photo frame’s etc.

We have quite some space to stall are accessories. With 2 sides of the house being fully glass, we have lots of light. In front of all the windows are boxes placed over the heatings, so we can even sit on them, chill by the window and stall out my pots, vases, candles, plants… and so on! I collected some other fun and easy DIY’s for the interior.

It was about time I started customizing my surfboard so I will be able to surf around on the waves this summer with an awesome board. I first had to get the wax off the board so I’ll be able to put the artwork on there. A perfect job for a relaxed Friday night while watching a movie (Hotel Transylvania, such a cool movie haha!)
A few weeks ago I made some sketches, but not sure which one to choose yet. Started sketching one on the board to see how it kind of looks like on there.. Want to have this thing done by the end of March if I can find some time. So which design would you choose?

Plants, Plants, Plants.. I’ve been loving them more and more, and the love is still growing.
We work and live in environments all very industrial. There’s not many trees to be found around here anymore, and that’s for workspaces and houses almost the same. There are plants, but mine opinion says there are not enough natural brown and bright green colours around here anymore.
I started saving up jars and cans so I can DIY a bit, and create a fun way to put some plants into my house. I have a quite cute and nice ensemble of plants right now, all gathered on one retro table in front of the window. But I want more! more plants, more DIY ideas to make my house cozy and more me. Different from other houses and original.

I’ve found these first 3 photo’s through several tumblrs. I was really curious who made the pics so didn’t stop searching until I found the actually source and photographer. She’s from Shizuoka, Japan. Obviously loving vintage and retro photography. I’m very inspired by her stream and website -> charmante.petit.cc . Although I’m not able to read Japanse, her photo’s are enough to just browse trough and enjoy. That’s why they came up with the well-known proverb right?  ‘A picture tells you more than a thousand words’.

Finally some time to do those little things you always forget… like fixing my fur coat! It’s a really old one and it’s slowling falling apart.  It wasn’t really decent anymore to wear and since it’s snowing I really need this coat to keep me warm. And so I used my free afternoon to get it fixed.
And a free evening gives me the upportunity to prepare a nice dinner.. Meatball tomato pasta a la Juliette!

This is probably going to be the last interior post of 2012. The year in which I made a turn of interest. Where I decided to shift from blogging mostly about fashion to interior, in which I graduated and had the most wonderfull 4 months of my life traveling through Thailand, Lao, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia.

This is the 3rd interior post consisting of accessories and furniture from my own home. A concept that I hopefully can turn into a bigger thing by featuring other peoples’ interiors the coming years.

I like jars..  most of my friend already know that. It’s so easy, you eat the food that’s inside them, clean them, get the label off.. and after a few months you have many different kinds of jars in the most beautiful shapes and sizes. Feta, olive and pesto jars are the best with their original shapes!
I sometimes collect them for when I might come up with an idea to do something with them. And so yesterday I was spray painting some stuff and thought Hey.. I could totally spray paint a few of my jars to use them as candles glasses.

I choose to paint them all at the same height, but you can do anything you want actually.
I bought spray paint that can be used on wood, glass, plastic, metal.. well, actually everything. Taped the parts that should not get painted and sprayed the bottom parts of the jars. After a few minutes they’re dry and you can use than right the way. Easy ha?
