I am a big fan of Lofts. The idea that all rooms in a house are situated in one space gives me a satisfying feeling. Being in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom all at the same time kind of just makes sense to me. I always take my breakfast with me to the bathroom when doing my make-up in the morning, I drink tea wherever I want, which results in finding used mugs and glasses everywhere around the house all the time haha. I change seats while watching a movie all the time just because and the doors to every room are always open. Conclusion, I don’t like small, closed-off spaces. I much more appreciate airy, light spaces and home should for sure be a place where you’re most comfortable right?

I’ve dedicated this post to show you the most beautiful Loft apartments I’ve came across while browsing the internet. Not for a random reason though, although it easily could’ve been that way. During the past months, well actually the past year (time flies) I’ve been investing on finding myself a cool house somewhere in the Netherlands to start my own perfect project. A home that looks awesome, is situated in or close to the centre of the city but is still a peaceful and airy place. I’ve found myself a loft apartment which is still under construction but will be finished somewhere around spring time next year. It’s not a very big home, but there are some very cool things to it. For example the loft is 5 meters high, the bathroom cubicle will serve as an extra 2nd etage in the room and one whole wall will consist of windows.
It’s gonna be very industrial and the project asks for the future home owners to think of smart ideas to make it ‘your home’ since it’ll be produced with the minimum of needs and luxury of a house. No nonce, no polishing. I gotta come up with an idea to get onto the ceiling of the cubicle, a stairs or something comparable at least. I came up with the idea to create a podium in the living area to make looking outside easier and make use of the hight of the space. I’ll be situated on the 7th floor with a view on some of the old Phillips factories and next to that mostly trees.

I have a ton of ideas and a lot I’ve already decided on. A small apartment asks for smart solutions. Being able to store all my stuff in order to keep the space airy, calm and beautiful on itself, is prio one. Think of raw materials like unpolished cement- walls, ceilings and floor, rough (ply)wood and steel constructions as beauty on itself. Lighting will be a challenge as well as storing all my clothes haha! I’m mostly looking forward to decorate the place with rugs and animal skins, a new couch, my million plants, vintage industrial finds, a set of wishbone chairs and my archive of artworks and prints I’ve collected troughouth the years.

Here’s a summary of images I use as inspiration, that reflect my future project or/and just to dream away by. Enjoy!
