Amazing animal and tropical prints at Kenzo Spring/Summer 2013 show! Love everything about these designs, the prints with the bright colours, the shapes, the colour combinations..
There were a few items that I wasn’t a big fan of for example the style of the waist belts and the big floppy boots. But next to that this collection is just amazing, colourful, bright, lively, beautiful and cheering.. Very elegant and though at the same time.
It’s November and so that means it’s Movember!
A month where guys support and collect money for prostate cancer.. How? By shaving all the facial hair off on the 1st of November (Did you?) and start saving and growing a mustache throughout the whole month.
Did you, your friend or boyfriend think about how they want to shape their mustache? Well I collected some nice and interesting mustache for your inspiration.
You would normally think of warm and cozy colours in autumn when it’s starting to get cold and darker every day. Rain outside, harsh wind… but I try to keep the sun inside and think of soft and light colours the keep the summer a little bit closer than it actually is! Enjoy these nice colour, texture and style ensembles I collected from sfgirlbybay, toast.co.uk, ballad.dk, decor8
An unexpected visit to the Dutch Design Week last Saturday. But the 6th year in a row though my curiosity dragged my feet into the train and to the Design Academy, STRP and the atelier of Piet Hein Eek. And I actually liked this years DDW the most!
It was the first time a visited the atelier of Piet Hein Eek. He’s a furniture designer who has a really particular and own style (you most likely would know his from the tables and closets made from used wood. Never thought his workspace was this big! and next to that there’s a really nice store and a beautiful restaurant all based in former Phillips Factory buildings.
And some promising designs at the graduation show as well. There was one design I got really excited about. The 4th photo shows foam molds with cut outs of sound waves. He uses these molds to make ceramic vases from. A nice object to have, designed mostly by the sound you choose and a bit by the designer choosing the angle of the sound waves and the colour/material.
Conclusion.. A great ‘design-full’ Saterday with my sister!
A restaurant that I find very intersting is Usine in Eindhoven.
This Grand Cafe based in the centre of the city was the former Philips Light Tower. In the early days light bulbs for Philips where produced here. Nowadays the building is one of Eindhoven’s well known monuments. An old Philips poster with the caption: ‘Les plus grandes usines du monde’ was the inspiration for the restaurants name. For the concept it was changed into: ‘Usine le plus grand cafe du monde.’ A grand cafe for everyone!
The whole visual identity from interior to all graphics is done by Bearandbunny consisting of Design Academy Eindhoven (which is based next to this building) graduates John Maatman and Carlijn Kriekaard.
They did a real good job combining different sorts of retro and new furnitures and colours. I totally love the wooden floor next to the black & white tiles around the bar, entrance, store and restrooms. It has a quite high ceiling, but with the industrial lights hanging low from the ceiling it doesn’t feel like you’re sitting in a big open space and cold at all. They combined lots of different materials and textures like concrete, glass, metal, wood, fabrics, colours and retro and new.
When first entering the Grand Cafe I was impressed by this interior and the great job they did. They have tables to eat from, the have a drink, to work, or couches to simply drink a cup of tea or coffee with the daily newspaper. A place for everyone and for sure unique in it’s style.
Yay, time to celebrate hyperjulia.com’s second anniversary!
As I said just one year back ‘Something that started off as a diary blog for my internship, but soon transformed to a blog that shows my style, things I’m inspired by, stories and adventures I want to share and stuff I make and do for living.’
Throughout the past year stuff has changed a bit. I graduated, been away for 4 months to travel trough South East Asia, and got a small interest shift where fashion has become a more spread thing to me and interior got a bigger accent on my blog.
Views keep rising and more and more people comment mostly in real live about stuff I do, which gives me courage and more drive to share stuff with you! And I couldn’t do this without my dear friends that help me take pictures for my outfit posts.
I made a summary of the moments and outfits that where most important this past year at Hyperjulia.com
And let’s hope for an even better and more successful 3rd year ha? ;)
