Mixed chairs around the dining table. A thing we’ve seen happening for years now in many homes.. and guess what, I think we can keep doing that for a while if we want. At least I’m not done with it for sure. Here’s why it’s so fun, starting with the amount of gorgeous chairs that exist around this world. I mean my favourite at the moment is the wishbone chair by Hans Wegner but I also really like the DSW Vitra chair, the industrial school chair, the french café chair, the bertoia wire chair.. you get it right? I can’t choose! So why not mix them up all around one table right? The second thing, a table looks like a little party with a couple of different chairs around it. Who doesn’t want that right? Though make sure it doesn’t become too big of a chaos. Choose to combine chairs that are either made from the same material, style or colour. That way it all blends in and becomes a fantastic chair gathering. Get inspired below..

I am a big fan of Lofts. The idea that all rooms in a house are situated in one space gives me a satisfying feeling. Being in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom all at the same time kind of just makes sense to me. I always take my breakfast with me to the bathroom when doing my make-up in the morning, I drink tea wherever I want, which results in finding used mugs and glasses everywhere around the house all the time haha. I change seats while watching a movie all the time just because and the doors to every other rooms are always open. Conclusion, I don’t like small, closed-off spaces. I much more appreciate airy, light spaces and a home should for sure be a place where you’re most comfortable right?

I’ve dedicated this post to show you the most beautiful Loft apartments I’ve came across while browsing the internet and use as inspiration, that reflect my future project or/and just to dream away by. Enjoy!

Ever lay in bed, staring at the ceiling and realise it’s not that much of a great and inspiring view? well.. let’s upgrade! Why not paint your ceiling for a touch of colour instead of the walls. It might not be the first thing to think off. We all know it’s tough work to paint, especially above the head, but it can really upgrade a room. Let’s take a look at some images to see what’s the effect of a painted ceiling.

Black works well when you have a lot of space and a high ceiling. It gives you the illusion the room is a bit more compact.

The beauty of this is that the painted ceiling can give the whole room a gorgeous coloured reflection of the light. This causes a fantastic cozyness. I’m sure the pink ceiling gives the room, and the people in there, a fabulous pink blush glow. Kind of a nice thing in the bedroom not? Don’t we all want to look fabulous in there? ;)

I think painting the ceiling is  a perfect solution to add a firm dose of colour to your room, without having to paint all the walls, or make it one big colour filled room. The walls stay clean, white and that way you keep it calm. Coloured walls can make placing a closet f.e. a bit harder. It’ll break the line of a wall. Take the one with the olive green ceiling, if you’d paint the wall behind the bed green instead of the ceiling and place the same pink nightstands in front of it together with the macrame wall hanging.. you’ll get a total different look. It’ll be much more of a contrasting and overwhelming appearance. Though, that I’m sure looks really nice as well, where talking about the benefits of the painted ceiling now.

Recently I did a restyle of the Hairdresser shop ‘Simon Says’. A mens hairdresser shop that kind of missed some life and cozyness in the interior. A place where lots of costumers like to come by, have a beer or take a seat on the bench outside to enjoy the sun. I changed the placement of the counter which now is a vintage workbench. A vintage table and old school chairs are placed in the front of the shop so people can take a seat, have a look in a magazine, hang around and wait for their turn in a relaxed setting. I painted the wall in waiting area black, and decorated it with some old enamel plates. To top we added two old factory lights, and cheered the place up with several plants, magazines and some photo frames.

Last weekend I visited the Tefaf art fair togheter with my Sister. We got invitation to go take a look at the fair and decided after last year was a success to go and see some art again. The Tefaf is the biggest art fair in the world and the art that’s for sale is insane, but amazing. From real old master piece stilllife paintings to modern art, design and antiques.
But after a while you get saturated by so much visual input so we decided to leave the Tefaf behind and visit the centre of Maastricht. Honestly I had never been to this city before so it was about time! Gotta say, it seems really cozy and the architecture is truly nice. We finished our little tour through the city centre at ‘Festen’. A store that litterly only has the most fun and gorgeous items to decorate your house with. I seriously wished for everything I could find there. A store that makes you wonder around for hours while keep finding cool stuff. Another pro, you can drink a nice fresh coffee with a slice of carrotcake or applecrumble if you need a little break inbetween shopping. A store every city needs, I’m sad it’s so far from where I live, but a good excuus to definitly go visit Maastricht again!

Ow and btw, check out the cactus vases in the last picture, aren’t they rad? Gotta get myself one or two of those asap. Had to leave them behind for now, saving money cause I’ll be travelling for a bit from next week on. Stay tuned for some fun updates from New York, Chicago and Canada!

During this summer I worked on a big interior project together with Plywood Constructions and Bonk Breda.  Both company owners build their life project, an indoor skate hall in Breda. It took them over 6 years to get this project to happen and that effort was worth it!

I did the interior design for the restaurant together with Jeroen van Eggermond (Plywood Constructions.) We both agreed we wanted this cafe not only to be a place for skaters to hang. The location has much more potential and so we decided to try and create a place that has a much bigger target-group in which everyone is welcome and wants to come over for a cup of tea, beer, sandwich etc.
I choose to go for a style that is rather industrial and gave it a cosy and feminine touch by adding materials like wood,  colour, plants and accessories. I started off designing the bar and went from there. Most items are vintage and the tables we designed ourselves by recycling materials and products we found while hunting in f.e. thrift stores.

Like to visit the park for a round of skateboarding or maybe a drink and some food -> Veilingkade 12, Breda or check their website www.pier15.nl

I love change in my own house.. I try to switch around with the furniture, change the accessories every few weeks or see if I can replace an item that I don’t like that much by something new. And something new doesn’t mean it has the be ‘new’. Actually I like secondhand stuff much more. Though a brand new couch or table would look nice. But I believe a new and modern item like a couch or a table mixed with some secondhand items can probably give you the perfect interior.

I’m changing my interior bit by bit from student like living to an actual house! Last week I got rid of my old desk. I got that one when I was studying and didn’t have money to buy a fancy one but replaced it by something much better.
Now I like a clean and empty desk. Who can work on a messy desk right? Well, I can’t though.. So I went trough my interior moodboards and used these interiors as my inspiration! I’d love to share some of them with you.

I actually bought the white desk you see in the pictures here. A drawer on one side just like the first picture and one support leg like in the last 3 pictures. And let me tell you a little secret.. a fancy desk doesn’t have to be super expensive.
Ikea does it.. Easy does it!
Find yourself a cool vintage light and maybe some plants.. and ready to use that gorgeous desk!
